A German-style dunkel from Port Brewing, San Marcos, California.
This one starts as a robust dunkel (hopped with German Magnum and Tettnanger), but the addition of white-hot granite in the boil superheats the wort beyond what a normal boil could do. The result is caramelized sugars that lend a smoky, toffee flavor to the end beer. Cool process, rarely seen in American craft beers.
6.2% abv, spring seasonal, serve at 50°F
